The RoboPanthers, FIRST Team 4718, are a robotics team created in 2012-2013 by a passionate group of mentors that envisioned a way for young students to be a part of the future of technology. For the past three years since their debut year of competition, they have qualified for the semi-finals twice, which allowed them to team up with top veteran teams. Since then, the RoboPanthers has become a powerful force, always pushing forward.
As a result of past successes at the FRC, club enlistments have tripled. Our program is designed to educate and inspire potential science and technology enthusiasts. Our mission is to engage them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, along with media and business.
We believe that these skills inspire innovation which also develops life skills including
self-confidence, communication, teamwork, and leadership.
The objective of the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competitions is to design and build a robot that meets a specified objective in a six-week timeframe.
In past years, we have constructed robots lift and stack totes onto a platform (2014 - 2015 FRC: Recycle Rush) to direct and launch large inflated yoga balls (2013-2014 FRC: Aerial Assist), flying discs through an elevated target (2012-2013 FRC: Ultimate Ascent), a smaller robot to lift, stack and build `skyrises` (2014 VEX: Skyrise), and a small robot designed to intake and launch 4" balls into nets (2015 VEX: Nothing But Net).
